May 09

Picture taken in Palisades Park, NJ on May 9, 2012.
As I was taking my dog out for her morning walk, I walked past these flowers which still had dew on them from last night.  It looked especially striking since it was still overcast but the sun was trying to break through.  As I went back home, I stood in front of my DSLR for a while debating whether I should go through the trouble of snapping a few shots of these flowers.  In the end I’m glad I did.

Samsung listens

To be fair since my phone crashed on the 5th it’s been good but the point is it shouldn’t crash at all after coming back from Samsung.

Samsung listens

I’ve been testing my Samsung Captivate for the past 2 days.  It’s too early to write a full review.  Overall it’s doing well but there are a few things that are raising some eyebrows over here.

For more up to the minute news, follow me @steveniyeo.

Samsung listens

My phone has come back from Samsung!  It’s at home and I haven’t gotten a chance to use it just yet, but a full write up will be coming soon!

Many thanks to Samsung for their responsiveness (but I’m holding out on the review of my device for later).

Thanks!

AT&T Customer Service is Beyond Strange

Just got off the weirdest call with AT&T wireless customer service.

I wanted to notify AT&T that I was using an iPhone in lieu of my Samsung phone which is currently under service in Plano, TX.  What was a bit wonky about the new iPhone I’m using is that it only has an Edge connection.  For those that are unaware an Edge connection is inferior and slower than 3G.  Many carriers are even advertising 4G speeds now so an Edge wireless connection is pretty much out of the question.

As I described my problem to the customer service rep, she started telling me about how all devices need to sleep for 30 minutes a day and that I should shut off my phone before I go in the shower and restart it when I’m out.  Ooooooooooooook.

I’ve never had to do that before with any smartphone but you’re the rep after all.

She then started a diatribe about how God created all things and all things need to sleep but especially iPhones.  Huh?

Pretty much immediately after the God reference (which I’m pretty sure is frowned upon at AT&T) her tone changed as she realized what she had just said and she began talking about ways I can find out how many minutes I have, my data plan, when I’m eligible for an upgrade, etc… the usual wireless customer service stuff, but the entire time all I could think was how she said, “God created all things and all things need sleep but especially iPhones.”

You’re a weird lady, but I like you.  Let’s have dinner some time.
